Fully funded home energy upgrades are only available to homeowners who satisfy the specific conditions of the SEAI Warmer Homes Scheme. These generally include owning and living in the property, receiving a qualifying welfare payment, living in a home built and occupied before 2006, and having a property suitable for improvement. Other homeowners may still qualify for individual or complete home energy upgrade grants.

Individual grants allow homeowners to complete measures such as attic insulation, wall insulation, solar panels or a heat pump separately. A complete home energy upgrade combines several improvements as one coordinated project and is normally designed to achieve a significant improvement in the property’s BER. The most appropriate option depends on your home, budget and long-term plans

No. Air source heat pumps work most effectively in homes with a sufficiently low level of heat loss. Your insulation, windows, ventilation, radiators and existing heating system may all need to be considered before installation. A home energy assessment can establish whether a heat pump is suitable or whether insulation improvements should be completed first.
